Phantom Gourmet: Blue Moon Grill
WAKEFIELD (CBS) -- A truly great breakfast only comes along once in a blue moon--unless you're eating at the Blue Moon Grill.
Located on Main Street in Wakefield, the Blue Moon Grill is cozy and comfortable. Just about everyone in the laid-back dining room seems to know each other, and owners Nancy and Vinny Chiuchiolo are always there working.
With its tiny kitchen and big menu, it's the kind of place you could mistake for a typical local breakfast spot. But as soon as you taste the food, you'll see there's nothing standard about the Blue Moon Grill.
"Oh I blow their minds," Vinny says. "They've never had it so good."
The dishes coming out of the kitchen look great and taste even better, like fluffy pancakes studded with sweets, decadent stuffed french toast, and Vinny's personal favorite, the Nonna's Special.
"My favorite thing to make is an Italian breakfast called Nonna's Special," says Vinny. "It's a frittata. It's made with three eggs, peppers, onions, Italian sausages. I actually put some home fries in it. Romano cheese, and topped with provolone cheese melted. It brings me back home to when I was a kid, when my mom used to cook for me."
In fact, many of the dishes here are family recipes, because more than anything, Vinny and Nancy want to share their love of food with everyone.
"When we decided to do this, the biggest thing that we wanted to do was to make you feel like you came into our home, and we cooked for you in our own home," said Nancy. "And that's what we do here."
