Former Gov. Paul Cellucci Honored With Hudson Memorial
HUDSON (CBS) -- Former Gov. Paul Cellucci was honored Sunday in his hometown of Hudson with a day of remembrance.
Cellucci died in 2013 of Lou Gehrig's Disease. His wife and two daughters were at the event, as was Andrew Card, a former state representative from Holbrook who rose to become chief of staff to former President George W. Bush.
"He just gave so much as a public servant," Card said. "A very very remarkable person who inspired people by his example of serving."
Two granite memorial benches were unveiled in Cellucci's honor. The Canadian national anthem played in recognition of Cellucci's time as ambassador to Canada, but he never forgot his hometown roots.
"This memorial dramatically demonstrates the values Hudson nurtured in Paul," Jan Cellucci said. "Respect for all of our neighbors and a compassionate, shared sense of responsibility for the success of our own community."
