Patriots Will Wear White Jerseys For Super Bowl XLIX

BOSTON (CBS) -- Super Bowl XLIX is less than a week away, so we can finally start focusing on football (and not how much air is in said football).

Before the X's and O's can be broken down though, we'll first bring you a quick fashion update: The Patriots will wear their road white jerseys for Super Bowl XLIX against the Seattle Seahawks.

This will mark the third time the Patriots wear their white jerseys in the Super Bowl, with the first coming in their Super Bowl XXXI loss to the Green Bay Packers. After wearing their blue jerseys in Super Bowls XXXVI (a 20-17 win over St. Louis) and XXXVIII (a 32-29 win over Carolina), the Patriots went back to their white jerseys for their 24-21 win over Philadelphia in Super Bowl XXXIX.

The Patriots wore their blue jerseys in their two Super Bowl losses to the New York Giants (Super Bowls XLII and XLVI), and their red throwback jerseys for their 46-10 loss to Chicago in Super Bowl XX.

ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss noted Monday that nine of the last 10 Super Bowl champions wore their white jerseys.

And for one more meaningless statistic regarding the color of New England's Super Bowl jerseys: The Pats went 4-2 in their road whites during the 2014 regular season.

Tune in to Super Bowl XLIX on 98.5 The Sports Hub — the flagship station of the New England Patriots. It's the only place to hear Bob Socci & Scott Zolak's local call of the game!
