Patriots Warn Fans About Fake Ticket Scams

BOSTON (CBS) - The New England Patriots want fans to be very cautious before buying tickets for Monday night's Pats-Jets showdown in Foxboro.

Bogus tickets have already been found on Craigslist.

The Patriots posted a photo of two of the counterfeit tickets on Twitter.

The first clue is to check the spelling.

Gillette Stadium was mis-spelled "Gellette."

The tickets also say "Enter Gate D," but there is no Gate D at Gillette.

WBZ-TV's Jim Armstrong reports.

According to Stub Hub, fans are paying an average of $239 for a ticket to the game, with a range from $87 to $1,151.

Earlier this season, more than 50 Patriot fans were turned away at the gate when it turned out their tickets were fake.

To be safe, the Patriots say you should avoid buying tickets from sites like Craigslist.

The Patriots have their own program where season ticket holders can sell their tickets for face value.
