Patriots Vollmer Misses Third Day Of Practice
FOXBORO (CBS) - After two days of full-pad practices, the New England Patriots were in shorts and shells on Friday as they prepare to open their season in Miami against the Dolphins.
It looks unlikely that offensive lineman Sebastian Vollmer will play in Miami after missing his third straight day of practice with a back injury. That would mean rookie Nate Solder could make his NFL debut, trying to keep the Dolphins pass-rushers off getting to Tom Brady. Dan Connelly, who was limited in Thursday's practice with a foot injury, could also fill in for Vollmer.

Vollmer was the only player not on the field when practice began.
Friday's practice participation report was identical to Thursday's.
