Patriots To Wear Red Throwback Jerseys Against Jets

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Patriots will try to get back to what works this weekend against the Jets, and they'll be doing so with the help of Pat Patriot.

The team announced Tuesday via Twitter that the Patriots will be sporting their red throwback jerseys on Sunday when they host Rex Ryan's Jets.

The jerseys were brought back for the Patriots' Thanksgiving game in Detroit in 2002, but they have been popping up quite a bit in recent years for the Patriots. In the 2009 season, the league celebrated the AFC's 50th anniversary by featuring several weeks with throwback looks for teams.

That year included the memorable Week 1 comeback victory by Tom Brady and the Patriots, as well as the 59-0 thrashing of the Titans under rare October snowfall. In 2010, the Patriots wore the red jerseys at home on Halloween against Randy Moss and the Vikings (a 28-18 Patriots win) and again on Thanksgiving against the Lions (a 45-24 Patriots victory).

The Patriots also wore their red throwbacks last year at home against the Jets, when the Patriots won 30-21
