Patriots Sign Brockton Native, Northeastern Alum Jason Vega
BOSTON (CBS) - The New England Patriots officially announced the signing of defensive lineman Jason Vega on Tuesday morning.
The 25-year-old Vega played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League in 2011 and 2012, recording 66 tackles and 12 sacks.
Report: Patriots Unlikely To Franchise Welker
Vega grew up in Brockton, Massachusetts and played college football at Northeastern. He went undrafted in the 2010 NFL draft, but became a versatile defensive end/linebacker in the CFL. With only five draft picks in the April's draft, Vega could have a good shot at making the team and give the Patriots a little more depth on the defensive line.

Vega is the second lineman the Patriots have signed from the CFL this off-season, as they also added Armond Armstead back in January.
