Patriots Second-Most Valuable NFL Franchise, According To Forbes
BOSTON (CBS) -- The New England Patriots are the No. 2 most valuable franchise in the NFL for the second straight year, according to the annual Forbes list of the league's most valuable teams. The Patriots are valued at $3.4 billion, a six percent increase over last year.
Forbes listed the Patriots' revenue at $523 million and operating income at $212 million. The Dallas Cowboys once again finished first on the list with a staggering $4.2 billion valuation, $700 million in revenue and $300 million in operating income.
The teams with the highest year-over-year increase in value - besides the Rams, who moved to Los Angeles in the offseason - were the Oakland Raiders with 47 percent, the Minnesota Vikings with 38 percent, and the San Diego Chargers with 36 percent. Rounding out the top-five most valuable NFL franchises are the New York Giants at $3.1 billion, San Francisco 49ers at $3 billion, and Washington Redskins at $2.95 billion.
Elsewhere in the AFC East, the New York Jets check in at 7th with a $2.75 billion valuation, the Miami Dolphins are 12th with $2.375 billion, and the Buffalo Bills sit dead-last at $1.5 billion.
