Patriots' Rookie Logan Ryan Apologizes For Gesture vs. Jets
BOSTON (CBS) - New England Patriots rookie cornerback Logan Ryan was fined $10,000 for his obscene touchdown celebration in the Patriots 30-27 loss to the New York Jets last Sunday, and apologized for his actions on Thursday.
Ryan, a third-round pick out of Rutgers, grabbed his first career interception in the first quarter against the Jets, picking off Geno Smith and returning it 79 yards for a touchdown. As he got close to the end zone, Ryan turned around and grabbed his groin.
On Thursday, the 22-year-old apologized for the celebration.
"First off, I just want to apologize to all the fans and all the viewers who had to witness that. I own up to it 100 percent," Ryan said from the Patriots' locker room. "It's not acceptable, not acceptable for me and this team. I want to put it behind me and want to move on and focus on Miami and let people know it won't happen again and that's not who I am."

"I want to be held accountable for this," Ryan continued. "I think I have a lot of football in me in the future, and I just want to make the most of it and make the most of my opportunities in the future."
Ryan, who stepped in for the injured Aqib Talib on Sunday, said his rookie year has been a lot easier with a strong group of veterans in the New England locker room.

"It's been a learning experience," he said. "I have a lot to learn and a lot to grow but I'm surrounded by great players on our team, and that's in the secondary with Devin McCourty, Kyle Arrington, Aqib Talib and even Alfonzo Dennard. They've been playing extremely great ball and we want to continue that."
