Gronk On Super Bowl Tussle: 'Screw It, I'm Throwing Haymakers'
BOSTON (CBS) -- For the first time in his career, Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is a Super Bowl champ.
But like any sports title, it didn't come without a fight -- and not just that 60-minute football battle with the Seattle Seahawks.
As time wound down in New England's 28-24 win over the Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX, emotions ran high and, eventually, some punches were thrown.
Gronkowski was in the middle of it all, with Seattle linebacker Bruce Irvin taking aim at the All Pro tight end. Gronk said with punches coming his way and only a few seconds remaining in the season, he was going to go out swinging if he had to.
"I got pushed or something, and it was the last game of the year, and I was like, 'Screw it, I'm throwing some haymakers,'" Gronkowski said Monday night on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

When asked if Roger Goodell would see any actual punches when watching tape of the tussle, Gronk turned on his usual Gronk charm.
"I don't think I did. Roger, no, I did not," Gronkowski said with a smile.
As a replay of the fight aired during the interview, Gronk responded with, "Roger, that wasn't me."
Gronk didn't have to throw anyone out of the club this time, as Irvin was ejected from the game for his actions. He took to Twitter afterwards to apologize to fans.
Gronkowski said after the game that those little fights tend to happen, especially in a game with such emotion.
"It's football, things happen. It's all good. I mean, it's all good," said Gronk. "They played ball, they're a hardworking team, and we just came out and did what we did to get the win."
