Revis On Jets: 'I Know Nothing About Them'

BOSTON (CBS) -- Darrelle Revis is used to playing in the Patriots-Jets rivalry, but he's going to get a whole new look of it on Thursday night.

Revis will get his first taste of what the rivalry looks like from a Patriots' perspective when his former team comes to Gillette Stadium for Thursday Night Football. He spent his first six NFL seasons as a member of the Jets, facing off against Tom Brady and the New England offense twice each season, and once in the playoffs.

But these Jets are very different from the 2012 team Revis last played for in New York.

"I know nothing about them," Revis said when asked about his familiarity with New England's next opponent. "I definitely don't. I hope that answers your question."

Revis laughed after his first response, but when further pressed on what he knew about the Jets, he explained that there is very little that is still the same from two years ago.

"There's a lot that has changed," he said. "[Brian] Schottenheimer was the coordinator when I was there, so it's different. There is a different coordinator now and they run a totally different offense. Just got into them today, so I'm still going through the game plan and looking at their offense."

Opponent Profile: Jets Look To Snap 5-Game Losing Streak

Revis did see the Jets in Week 1 last year, his only season in Tampa Bay. That was his first and only glimpse of Geno Smith and the new style of offense the Jets run under Marty Mornhinweg, but even if he did have some extra insight into New York's offense or defense, there wouldn't be enough time even for a crash course given New England's short week of preparation.

"I think the coaches are focusing on [the Jets' defense] on their own," he said. "I have a lot up on my plate and what I need to do game-plan-wise and studying these guys. I'll leave that to the coaches."

But even though Monday was really a Thursday, and Tuesday will be the only practice of the week for the Patriots, Revis said he and his teammates will be ready come Thursday night.

"We've got a strong team and guys are smart at what they do in terms of taking care of our bodies and just trying to focus on this week. That's the biggest thing -- just focus as best we can getting the game plan down as best as we can. It's just a very short week," he said. "We will be ready on Thursday night. No question about that."
