Gil Santos
Longtime radio play-by-play announcer for the New England Patriots of the National Football League, and morning sports reporter for WBZ radio in Boston, he retired from WBZ on January 30, 2009.He has called Patriots games continuously since 1966, except for a stretch between 1980 and 1990. His 30 years of service makes him the longest-serving current announcer in the NFL, tied with Merrill Reese of the Philadelphia Eagles . He is also the last team play-by-play announcer from the American Football League era still broadcasting. Since 1990, his partner in the booth has been former Patriots kicker Gino Cappellettii except for the opening eight games of the Patriots' 2001 season when Cappelletti was hospitalized with an illness and former Patriots player Peter Brock substituted for Cappelletti. Brad Sham, the voice of the Dallas Cowboys is third with 27 years with the Cowboys (19 of those years as a play-by-play announcer).In addition to the work at WBZ, Santos has called games for the Boston Celtics, Boston Breakers, Providence Friars basketball, Penn State Nittany Lions football and Boston College Eagles football. He was born in Acushnet, Massachusetts and grew up in neighboring Fairhaven. From 1959 to 1971, when he joined WBZ full-time, Santos worked at WBSM and WNBH Radio in New Bedford, and WSAR and WALE Radio in Fall River.
Gary Tanguay
Gary Tanguay enters his seventh season as host of Patriots Preview and Patriots Postgame, offering a steady hand and unique insight to the network's six hours of pre and post-game programming. Tanguay is also currently the co-host of Comcast Sports Net Mohegan Sun Sports Tonight, a twice-nightly 30-minute sports news and opinion show. Prior to joining FSN New England, Tanguay worked as a sports anchor/reporter with WBZ-TV (CBS) in Boston. During his two-and-a-half year tenure at WBZ-TV, Tanguay traveled with the Boston Bruins and New England Patriots and served as a host on the popular Sunday night Sports Final. Arriving on the New England television scene in 1995, Tanguay worked with WGMC television in Worcester, WLVI-TV (WB) in Boston and New England Cable News (NECN).
In 1998, he was recognized with the Associated Press Best Sports Feature Award for his portrayal of the Joey DeGrandis story, a local boxing champion. Tanguay served as an original staff member at Sports Radio 850 WEEI in Boston; sports director for WERZ-FM and WMYF-AM in Exeter, NH; and as a radio personality at WIDE-AM and WYJY-FM in Biddeford, ME.
