Mankins Talks Penalties, 'Horrible' Call From Jets Win
FOXBORO (CBS) - New England Patriots guard Logan Mankins spoke to the media on Thursday, and it was a very entertaining affair.
The All Pro guard has six penalties this season, and though he agrees with some of them, a holding call in last week's 37-16 win over the Jets was not one of them.
"That was a horrible call," he said, drawing laughter from reporters. "I'm not even saying that to be funny. It was horrible."
Mankins made a point that he has four false starts and two two holding penalties this season. While holding can occur in the heat of the moment, it's the false starts that really get to him.

"They are just something that shouldn't happen but they have happened," he said. "Hopefully I could not have any more of those."
He also talked about fellow offensive lineman Brian Waters, calling him a "pros pro." Mankins is impressed at how the former Chief has come in and adjusted to what the Patriots do so quickly.
"He's here for one goal and that's to win football games and play good football," said Mankins of Waters. "He's always in there studying, watching film with us. He just wants to help the team."

This season is different for Mankins, without any contract business that held him out of the first half of last season. He came into the season with a new deal, but the nervousness about meeting the expectations of that contract have never been an issue.
"I don't know if I was nervous, but I still want to be the same," he answered. "I want to work the same, I want to play the same. Those are things I'm trying to do."
