Patriots' Hightower, Amendola, Slater Ruled Out For Sunday's Game Against Saints
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Patriots will be without Dont'a Hightower and Danny Amendola this weekend in New Orleans.
Hightower (knee) and Amendola (concussion/knee) have both been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Saints after missing their third day of practice on Friday.
Both players were injured in New England's Week 1 loss to Kansas City last Thursday, and there was some hope that the 10-day layoff would allow them to heal up enough to play in New Orleans. That was not the case though, and the Patriots will be shorthanded when they take on the Saints.
Without Amendola, the Patriots are left with just three healthy wide receivers on the depth chart: Brandin Cooks, Chris Hogan and Phillip Dorsett. They also need to find someone else to field punts.
In addition to Hightower and Amendola, special teams captain Matthew Slater (hamstring) and defensive lineman Vincent Valentine (knee) were also ruled out for Sunday's tilt. Offensive lineman Marcus Cannon (ankle), safety Devin McCourty (groin) and special teamer Nate Ebner (shoulder) are all questionable for the game.
