Patriots' Gronkowski Falls To Calvin Johnson In Madden Cover Vote
BOSTON (CBS) – Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski will not be gracing the cover of the Madden '13 video game, despite a strong push to do so.
Fans worried about the "Madden Curse" can now breathe a sigh of relief.
Gronkowski was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the bracket-style voting, losing 63-percent to 37-percent to Detroit Lions' receiver Calvin Johnson.
The Pats tight end made two YouTube videos campaigning for the cover, including one in which he spiked a Transformers "Megatron" action figure, which is Johnsons' nickname.
The final four candidates for the cover are Johnson, taking on Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, with Panthers quarterback Cam Newton going against 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis.
Fans can submit their votes here. Voting for the semifinals goes until April 18.
