Patriots Fans: Who Are You Rooting For In Jets-Colts Game?
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Patriots are 2-0, perched atop the AFC East, and though the season has only just begun, it's never too early to start thinking ahead.
With that in mind, Monday night's Jets-Colts game presents an intriguing question for the Patriots and their fans. Namely, which team should they root for?
Well, "root for" might be strong, as a loss for either team represents a win for the Patriots. But if Patriots fans had their druthers, which team would they want to win?
On the one hand, a Jets loss would drop New York to 1-1, leaving New England all alone in first place. A cushion in the division is always nice.
But realistically, is there really a threat of the Patriots losing the division? Barring injury, does anyone believe that any team in the division is ready to overtake the Patriots?
On that note, wouldn't it be best to start thinking about the conference as a whole? Home-field advantage is a nice thing to have come January, of course.
So perhaps a loss for the Colts might be more helpful to the Patriots. Certainly, the Patriots enjoyed the benefits of playing at home last January, when they steamrolled the Colts to the tune of a 45-7 final score to earn a trip to the Super Bowl. And with the 0-1 Colts still looking like the best team in the AFC South (that's admittedly not saying much), they likely will be a playoff team.
Obviously, much of this involves looking much too far forward in the future. A lot will happen between now and January, so rather than focus on potential playoff seedings, it'd be best to follow a gut feeling. When it comes to losing on national TV, would you prefer the hated/tampering Jets or the crybaby/DeflateGate-starting Colts?
