Patriots Cut Dan Gronkowski, Add WR Underwood
BOSTON (CBS) - The New England Patriots have released tight end Dan Gronkowski for the second time this season, the team announced Tuesday.
In addition to cutting defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth on Tuesday, the Patriots also released Gronkowski from the 53-man roster and offensive lineman Thomas Welch from the practice squad.
The Patriots signed wide receiver Tiquan Underwood, who they had in the preseason. The 24-year-old Underwood had four receptions for 52 yards in the Patriots final preseason game against the Giants.

A 2009 seventh-round pick out of Rutgers, Underwood played the last two seasons for the Jacksonville Jaguars. In 13 career games, Underwood has eight receptions for 111 yards.
