BOSTON (CBS) - In addition to the quartet of players the Patriots lost to injuries during Sunday's comeback win over the Saints, numerous others received their share of bumps and bruises.
New England's star quarterback is included on that list, and has the bruise to prove it.
Tom Brady took the podium on Wednesday, sporting a nice shiner underneath his right eye. He had a little bit of fun when asked about it by the New England media.
"I got it in the game at some point. One of those dirty plays," he said with a big smirk.

"No, it happens," Brady promptly added.
Brady doesn't recall which hit caused the bruise, and it's hard to blame him. The New Orleans pass-rush kept him busy Sunday afternoon, sacking Brady five times and hitting him seven others.

But that didn't stop the quarterback from orchestrating a game-winning drive in the final minute (shortly after he threw an interception with 2:16 left) to lead the Patriots to a 30-27 win.
Now Brady, black eye and all, is getting ready for his second meeting of the season with the New York Jets on Sunday. The Jets are not big fans of the Patriots or Brady, and wouldn't mind giving him another shiner when it's all said and done.
TALE OF THE TAPE: Patriots vs. Jets
Jets offensive lineman Willie Colon even told The New York Daily News "I just hate them" when asked about the Patriots this week.
But that is nothing new for Brady, who has heard much worse from the Jets.
"Not much fazes me with Jets-Patriots at this point, or Yankees-Red Sox. I've been around to hear the banter that goes back and forth," he said. "It's a healthy rivalry. It's because both cities take a lot of pride in winning and we love our sports. It should be an exciting weekend."
