Patriots Blog: Victory Monday
Today is "Victory Monday" for the Patriots.
After an impressive win, they were given Monday off and they will return to Gillette on Wednesday and start their preparation for the Colts.
This was popular news in the locker room as one can imagine.
"Everyone, especially me, has to get some rest and be ready to come back Wednesday," quarterback Tom Brady said. "We've got another great opponent coming into our stadium."
HARD 2 BEAT
The Patriots once again showed the nation that it's hard to beat them 2 games in a row. Their focus in this game was excellent. They scored first and kept on scoring as the game went on.
After last week's beating, winning this game in a dominant fashion was the best way for the Patriots to get that bad taste out of their mouths.
They led 10-3 at the break and 23-3 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The Steelers fought uphill all game long. The Pats now have a share of the best record in the NFL at 7 and 2 and they are once again considered one of the league's elite teams.
Rob Gronkowski had as bad a game as a player could have against the Browns but he redeemed himself against the Steelers - 3 touchdowns and an overall solid performance.
Tom Brady vaulted himself into the MVP talk. He showed fire and leadership. He threw for 3 scores and ran for one. Another 300 yard game for Brady and he continues to master the Steelers defense. This win makes him 6 and 1 against Pittsburgh.
The Patriots defense was the more physical defense on Sunday night. They spent the whole game keeping Ben Roethlisberger on the run and when the receivers made catches, they got punished. James Sanders, Patrick Chung, Kyle Arrington and Devin McCourty laid the wood all night long. This defense may have been the best unit on the field on Sunday.
BRADY ON EMOTION
If you watched the game, you saw an emotional Brady.
He got after his teammates when the plays broke down and got after himself when he made poor decisions. Tom was fiery and he talked about that emotion after the game.
On why he showed so much emotion throughout the game:
"I'm always emotional. Probably too emotional. It gets me going, it keeps me focused. There's only one way to play this game: With emotion.
On the play of tight end Rob Gronkowski, who scored three touchdowns:
"[Gronkowski] played a great game. I know it was a tough one for him last week [against the Browns], and he came back and really showed what he's all about. A great performance by him, by all the tight ends, by all the receivers, by the whole offense, by the whole defense. It was definitely a team win."
