Patriots Blog: Tom Brady Hates Losing, Vows To Improve
FOXBORO (CBS) -- Here are some tidbits from Tom Brady's weekly press conference:
The quarterback talked about intensity, and Tom mentioned that he tries to be pretty consistent. Nobody likes to lose, he said. The Patriots just have to be better next week.
Regarding Minnesota's defense, he said it is more of a pressure defense. Tom understands they are going to send a heavy rush, and the members offense has to all be on the same page.
Tom admitted that all levels of the offense have to improve, especially that communication with his offensive line. You don't change everything, he said, but you have to make adjustments because they are all connected.
"You really need 11 guys to do the right thing on every play, or else it's usually not a successful play," Brady said. "You just can't have any breakdowns."
The Pats will see Matt Cassel this week and Tom said he's one of his great friends, "But I hope we beat him up this week. That's just the way it goes."
He admitted that they have to be able to sustain this game for 60 minutes and have to be able to especially get that done on the road. Basically, they just have to play better in all phases of the game.
Brady said that having a variety of plays will keep a defense off balance. The Pats were predictable last week and they have to be better just mixing up the snap counts so the defense won't tee off on them. The offense also needs to have more success on the ground in order to create a more balanced attack.
Overall, the Patriots are a long way from the team they want to be. They hate losing. They have to go out there and try and just be a better team.
"It's a terrible feeling around here. It's a quality of life issue I think we all face when we lose," Brady said. "Hopefully it motivates us to go out there and have a great week of practice and be prepared for this game and try to beat a very good team."
