Patriots Blog: Browns Dominate Patriots

CLEVELAND (CBS) - It's over.

The final score Browns 34 Patriots 14.

The Patriots are now 6-and-2.

HILLIS SEALS THE DEAL

Browns running back Peyton Hillis is killing the Patriots.

He just ran for his second touchdown to put this one away.

It's now 34-14 Cleveland with 2:34 left.

Hillis has 181 yards on 28 carries.

STAYING ALIVE

The Patriots got on the board again with 6:37 left in the fourth quarter.

Tom Brady hit Aaron Hernandez with a one-yard touchdown pass and Wes Welker kicked the extra point to make it 27-14.

Stephen Gostkowski is still out with a thigh injury.

THIRD QUARTER

The Patriots and Brady look confused.

Brady is just off today. He missed throws to Brandon Tate and Aaron Hernandez on the Pats first drive of the third quarter.

Punter Zoltan Mesko saved a big play. The snap to him on a punt was terrible. He picked it up after two bounces and got it out of there.

The Pats can not stop the run and the Browns are running the rock.

Peyton Hillis or Colt McCoy pick your poison.

The Pats are getting beat physically all over the field.

So far the second half is all Browns.

24 to 7 Browns after 3.

SECOND QUARTER

It took a Tom Brady sack to get this offense going.

He got smashed on his first play of the second quarter and then he took the Pats on a touchdown drive.

Danny Woodhead with many of the keys plays, Aaron Hernandez with the touchdown catch. It was deflected off of Rob Gronkowski's pads.

The Browns got the ball back and they beat the Pats defense on third downs. New England is struggling to get off the field. The Browns used a trick play to get their second touchdown of the game. Colt McCoy is having a very solid game against the Patriots.

The Pats were moving the ball to end the half, but "Gronk" fumbled the ball on the two-yard line and that stopped any threat.

Also, kicker Stephen Gostkowski has a thigh bruise. Not sure who is going to kick for the Pats, but Wes Welker was out for second half warm ups and he was field goal kicking.

He nailed one from 47. Hopefully the Pats don't need him but if they do, they need to keep it in his range.

17 to 7 at halftime.

FIRST QUARTER

The Pats are off to a very rough start.

The Browns got a good run from Joshua Cribbs and the special teams and they turned that into a field goal. The Patriots botched the ensuing kickoff and the Browns turned that into a touchdown.

The Pats got a bit of luck when Browns running back Peyton Hillis fumbled the ball and Brandon Meriweather recovered it, but the offense could not turn it into any points.

Hillis is really making a difference in this game.

The Pats can not stop him and that is setting up the play action.

Also Tom Brady has had a bad quarter, missing open guys and his throws are not crisp.

10-0 Browns after one quarter.

INACTIVES

These are the Patriots inactive for Sunday's game against the Browns.

Taylor Price WR

Fred Taylor RB

Patrick Chung S

Jarrad Page S

Rich Ohrnberger OL

Ryan Wendell C

Mark LeVoir T

Kyle Love DL

Good to see Deion Branch is not on the list. He is warming up and looks better than he did last week. Chung is another story. The Pats need him to get right.
