Patriots Blog: Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin Talks Pats
FOXBORO (CBS) -- Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin talk about the Patriots on his conference call with the Boston media today. Here are some of the tidbits from his conversation.
On whether it matters to the Steelers whether the Patriots line up Vince Wilfork on the nose or on the end on the defensive line:
"This guy is a force no matter where he lines up. We have to prepare to stop him wherever they line him up."
On the Patriots' offensive philosophy, which features increased use of tight ends in the passing game, especially with the addition of rookies Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez:
"I don't know if it's a philosophy. They just have guys capable of playing. It's like when they had [Daniel] Graham and [Ben] Watson. They've got good players and they put them on the field. And [Alge] Crumpler is a good a blocking tight end as there is. They have some good tight ends and they utilize them."
Fred Taylor Back At Practice
Running back Fred Taylor was back at practice today. Fred has been missing in action since week three. His toe injury has kept him quiet but now he finally seems to be getting better.
"Initially we thought it would be surgery," he said. "It's more so the joint, but in this particular case, it was some of my tendons and ligaments and a lot of other stuff ... After getting a second opinion, stress tests, a third opinion, it got better. Just being able to get treatment, and train, I feel great. The initial prognosis was bad to the point of tears and all the other stuff that comes with it. I'm here, and we'll see how it goes from this point."
It was good to see him out there on the field. He says now he feels like he's part of this team.
