Patriots Blog: Scene From Gillette, Bledsoe To Present Trophy
FOXBORO (CBS) - It is a balmy 20 degrees today as the Patriots get ready for today's AFC Championship game against the Ravens.
It's cold in the shade but warmer in the sun. In all actuality, this is perfect football weather.
The Ravens have been warming up since I got here at 10:30am and right now the players are out there practicing. Not many, but enough.
The only Patriot player out there warming up was Zoltan Mesko. He has since been joined by other Patriots.
Ty Law and Drew Bledsoe have made it to the field and the fans that are here early have given them big applause. They are two of the four honorary captains along with Troy Brown and Tedy Bruschi.
Bledsoe learned Saturday night that he may play a huge part in today's game. If the Pats win, Bledsoe is going to hand off the Lamar Hunt AFC Championship trophy, to the team. Drew was told the news by Patriots owner, Robert Kraft.
Drew Bledsoe On Patriots GameDay:
"He's a great guy and he represents what's great about the NFL," Kraft said on Patriots All Access Saturday night. "We're happy he's an honorary captain tomorrow. If we should be lucky enough to win, he'll be the person handing the trophy off."
That news surprised Bledsoe, who simply said, "Really? Wow."
The feel around here right now is this is the Patriots game to lose. In talking to many of the beat writers and NFL people, they all feel the Pats have what it takes to win this game and move on to the Superbowl.
