Patriots Blog: Patrick Chung Undergoes Thumb Surgery

FOXBORO (CBS) - Patriots safety Patrick Chung had thumb surgery early this week and his status for Sunday's upcoming game against the Bills is uncertain, sources said.

Chung hurt his hand on Sunday against the Chargers and he has not been seen in the locker room this week.

The Pats are very thin in the defensive backfield. They just brought in Phillip Adams for that reason.

Chung, who was the early leader of that defensive backfield, did not practice with the team on Wednesday, leading people to believe he may not be able to play on Sunday. There's is still a couple of days to go, though.

If he gets fitted for a cast and he's able to play, I am pretty sure Chung will play.
