Patriots Blog: Moss To The Titans

BOSTON (CBS) - The Tennessee Titans are the winners in the Randy Moss sweepstakes and Moss has already said that he is going to report.

When he was let go by the Vikings, the Titans were one the teams that were really interested. Head coach Jeff Fisher thought Moss would be a perfect fit. They get him.

A word of advice, they better step up their post practice meals or this could get ugly.

BRADY ON MOSS

Even though Randy Moss is no longer a Patriot, it still seems that we are talking about him everyday. The Vikings released Moss officially on Tuesday and now everybody is anxiously awaiting the next move. It's a strange turn of events for Randy and many in the Patriots locker room have concerns for their friend.

"He's just a great friend of mine," Brady answered. "I know the relationship that I have with him and it goes beyond football."

Asked if he would welcome Moss back, Brady said: "You can ask Coach Belichick. I don't make the decisions around here. If I did, Lawyer Milloy would still be here and Deion [Branch] never would have left. Whatever I want doesn't happen anyway, so I just try to keep my mouth shut."

MANKINS IS BACK

The Patriots announced on Tuesday that pro bowl Logan Mankins has signed his tender and he is back with the team.

"Logan came in, I met with him this morning, and it's good to have him back on the team," Belichick said. "He's been a great player and person for our football team. He's tough. He's smart. You just can't have too many guys like that on your football team. We're glad he's back."

The Mankins situation will be taken on a day to day basis. Depending on how he practices, the Pats will try in get him in the game on Sunday against Cleveland.

"He's in the building. It's good that he's here," Patriots director on player personnel Nick Caserio said. "He's really no different than any other player that's on the team or in the building. They'll start to prepare for the opponent, and then we'll make the decision about who plays based on how they practice, how the meetings go, who's healthy, etc. Logan's been a good player for us. He's been solid. He's been reliable. I think he has a lot of the traits and characteristics that we look for in players. It's good to have him around here in the building."

Today will be the first day Logan practices with the team. Hopefully he also addresses the media about coming back.

ROSTER MOVES

The Patriots are one of the few teams in the NFL that only carry 2 quarterbacks on their roster. Well that is about to change. Former Tennessee quarterback Jonathan Crompton has been signed to the practice squad. The Pats had an open spot because they moved safety Sergio Brown to the active roster.

Also the Pats have brought in wide receiver Taj Smith for a workout. The 27 year old, spent the preseason with the Colts. The Patriots are considering putting him on their practice squad.

POWER RANKINGS

Here are the latest NFL power rankings. A lot of movement this week, especially at the top.

1. Patriots
2. Ravens
3. Steelers
4. Jets
5. Colts
6. Falcons
7. Giants
8. Packers
9. Titans
10. Saints
11. Chiefs
12. Eagles
13. Texans
14. Buccaneers
15. Dolphins
16. Raiders
17. Bears
18. Redskins
19. Jaguars
20. Seahawks
21. Rams
22. Chargers
23. Vikings
24. Cardinals
25. Bengals
26. Browns
27. Lions
28. Broncos
29. Cowboys
30. 49ers
31. Panthers
32. Bills

Again, I think the Giants are the best team in the NFC. I think they need to be ahead of the Falcons. If the Buccaneers win this weekend, it will turn this whole rankings item upside down. No one but their coach believes that they are any good. They beat the Falcon in Atlanta this weekend and they are officially legit.
