Patriots Blog: Haynesworth Trial Begins Tuesday

BOSTON (CBS) -Albert Haynesworth showed up for Patriots practice on Saturday, and that was the first time in a couple of weeks.

Well now he may have some more significant time off.

Tuesday marks the beginning of Haynesworth's trial at the District of Columbia Superior Court for allegedly groping a Washington, D.C. waitress earlier this year. If he is convicted of the misdemeanor sex abuse charge, he could serve a maximum of six months in prison.

Haynesworth's lawyer is trying to strike from the record comments Haynesworth allegedly made to Metropolitan Police Department detectives soon after the alleged incident. Haynesworth's lawyer claims his client had not been read his rights before making the statements.

"I know what this is about, she is just upset I have a white girlfriend," Haynesworth told police. "I couldn't even tell you the last time I dated a black girl. She was trying to get with me."

Bill Belichick had to know of this court case when he signed the defensive tackle. He mentioned on Saturday that Albert's status is still day-to-day.

If Haynesworth is convicted, Bill would have to change those words to see you next year.
