Patriots Blog: Deion Branch Talks About Release
BOSTON (CBS) - Deion Branch was back at Foxboro on Saturday, among the thousands in attendance for Troy Brown's induction into the Patriots Hall of Fame.
Branch, who was released by the Patriots on August 31st, gave his first public remarks since being let go by the team.
"I think all of us are surprised But it's the nature of the business," said the 11-year veteran. "It's part of the business."
While his roster spot came into question at times during the preseason, most thought Branch was safe following the release of fellow wide outs Jabar Gaffney and Donte' Stallworth. That obviously was not the case, but Branch never felt that amount of confidence everybody had about his safety.

"Yeah and no. It's like what Troy was saying earlier – no one is ever safe. You've just got to come in and do your job and go from there, and that's what I was doing," Branch said. "I think the organization is going to do what's best for the team, whatever they feel is best for the team, and you have to respect that, and I do."

Branch had 51 receptions in 15 games last season for New England, finishing the year with 702 yards and five touchdowns. He has spent half of his career with the Patriots, and don't be surprised to see Branch back in a New England uniform later in the season if there is a need at wide receiver.
