Patriots Blog: Dane Fletcher Trying To Stay Positive
FOXBORO (CBS) - Injured Patriots line backer Dane Fletcher was in the locker room today. Fletcher suffered an ACL tear in the Pats second preseason game and this was the first time he's spoken to the media since. The third-year player says he's trying to maintain a positive mood.
"Not even being able to get out there with your guys in the regular season, what not, it hurts," he said. "But, I look at everything positive, at least it kind of happened early in the year. I have a full year to recover, and I'll be back for next year, and that's how I look at it."
Dane will have the surgery next week and then he'll start the long road to recovery. He says he won't be able to do much physically for a while but his mental preparation of the game should get better.
"I think that's half of it. If you're out for a little bit of time, it's more the mental aspect of the game that people slow down and don't pay attention to the details," Fletcher said. "On my own time I like breaking down different offensive coordinators , I like just seeing what other teams are doing, because you never know. I just love studying the game. Even when I'm out of here, I might not be in a couple meetings - I still come to meetings and what not - I dig it. I love football. When I'm at home I still watch all the other games and just break down formations and what not, just to stay on top of the mental aspect of the game."
