Patriots Blog: Belichick As JFK?
FOXBORO (CBS) - A very light-hearted Bill Belichick addressed the media Friday and answered all questions, even the ones that dealt with Halloween.
When asked about his favorite costumes growing up, he surprised everyone when he mentioned dressing up as President John F. Kennedy.
"It was during the Cuban Missile Crisis," he said, smiling.
Coach Belichick talks about his favorite costume
"I think I won the prize. People were impressed that the president was able to break away and attend a school Halloween party."
What kind of kid dresses up like the president?
Strange bird, but I guess we all knew that.
Wes Welker talks about what he's going to dress as for Halloween
FINAL PRACTICE
The Patriots had their final practice of the week this morning. The players dressed light for this one, sweat clothes and light pads.
Present for the practice were wide receiver Deion Branch, he was limited in Thursday's practice with a hamstring injury, and safety Patrick Chung, who had returned to practice on Thursday after suffering a knee injury in Sunday's game in San Diego.
Also present for Friday's session was defensive lineman Mike Wright. He missed Thursday's practice with a knee injury. Wide receiver Matthew Slater was also present at practice for a second straight day.
Missing from the session was Fred Taylor (toe). Fred has not practiced since week 3, and Jarrad Paige. He remains out with a calf injury.
BILL NOT BUYING IT
This morning the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported that Vikings head coach Brad Childress was leaning toward sitting Brett Favre for this game and starting bacKup quarterback Tarvaris Jackson.
Favre has also told acquaintances that he isn't convinced Childress is ready to let him start. Favre has started in 291 consecutive regular season games.
When asked if he thought he could play at New England, Favre said, "I wouldn't put anything past me, to be honest with you."
This time though it may not be up to him. In the past, teams needed Brett Favre to start.
The Vikings may be better off without him in the line up. "He's been a little better every day," Childress said Thursday. "Whether it's good enough to play in an NFL football game remains to be seen. Just have to take it a day at a time."
With all of this going on, Belichick believes none of it.
He is sure Favre is going to play and he is not putting any stock in the reports.
"The same media reports that said Terrell Owens wasn't going to play in the Super Bowl [in the 2004 season]?" Belichick said, adding that the team prepares for all players.
