Patriots Blog: Barrett Placed On IR
FOXBORO (CBS) - The New England Patriots made a flurry of roster moves Wednesday, most notably placing safety Josh Barrett on the season-ending injured reserve.
"The kid's worked hard and I wished that would have turned out differently for him this year. It is what it is," head coach Bill Belichick said of Barrett on Wednesday.
Barrett played in five games with four starts in 2011 and collected 14 total tackles. He hits the IR with a calf injury, making the Patriots already thin defensive backfield almost see-through. We already saw how thin the Patriots were at safety on Sunday.

The Patriots also signed linebacker Niko Koutouvides to the 53-man roster and signed defensive back Sterling Moore from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.
A seven-year vet, Koutouvides has played in 103 games with two starts and registered 101 special teams tackles and 54 total tackles on defense. He has also played in eight postseason games, including Super Bowl XL while with Seattle.
Koutouvides was signed by the team in August, but was part of the final cuts in September.
