Patriots Blog: Aqib Talib Comes To Pats With Baggage
FOXBORO (CBS) -- The Pats acquired cornerback Aqib Talib from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Coming out of college, Talib was considered one of the best cover corners in the 2008 draft. He was the 20th pick overall and so far in his career he has 18 interceptions.
But here's the problem.
Talib is currently serving a four-game suspension for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances. Talib stated that around training camp, he took an Adderall pill without a prescription. This is also his second suspension.
The fifth-year pro was disciplined for an altercation he had with a St. Petersburg cab driver back in 2010, and he was also arrested in an alleged dispute with his sister's boyfriend.
The Pats making this move tells everybody that they know they need to get better in the defensive backfield. This is a wild card though. Talib has baggage.
