Patriots Blog: AFC Championship Trophy In The House
FOXBORO (CBS) - This is a big day for the AFC Championship.
With the New England Patriots getting ready to host the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC title game this Sunday, the AFC Championship trophy is in the house at Gillette.
And you might notice it looks a little different this year.
The Lamar Hunt Trophy, given to the winners of the AFC Championship since 1984, went through a bit of a makeover by request of the NFL. The original design consisted of a wooden base with a sculpted AFC logo in the front and a sculpture of various football players in the back.

But this season both the Hunt Trophy and the George Halas Trophy, given to the NFC Champion, were redesigned by Tiffany & Company in an attempt to make both awards look more significant.
Both trophies are now a new, silver design with the outline of a hollow football positioned on a small base, resembling the Vince Lomabardi Trophy.
