Patriots-Bills Week 6 News & Notes
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Patriots and Bills will battle for first place in the AFC East Sunday afternoon at Ralph Wilson Stadium in New York.
Here are some news and notes about the game:
- This will be the 109th meeting between the Pats and the Bills. New England holds 66-44-1 edge in the series. The 66 wins over the Bills are the highest victory total over any opponent.
- Since the series between the Patriots and Bills started in 1960, New England has swept Buffalo 23 times.
- Tom Brady is 22-2 against the Buffalo Bills and he's thrown for 54 touchdowns against them -- more than any other opponent. He is 66-8 in his career against AFC teams.
- Since 2001, the Pats are 63-18 in regular season AFC East games.
- Since 2003, the Pats are 38-9 in the month of October
- Since 2010, Rob Gronkowski has 46 touchdown receptions. Only Calvin Johnson of the Lions has more with 47 touchdowns.
- Gronk attended high school at Williamsville High, just outside Buffalo.
- Chandler Jones grew up in Rochester, NY which is just outside Buffalo
- The Bills have a few former Patriots on their side now. Defensive line coach Pepper Johnson spent 14 seasons with the Patriots before joining the Buffalo staff over the offseason, and linebacker Brandon Spikes played for the Patriots. Bills head coach Doug Marrone coached Chandler Jones when he was at Syracuse.
- The Patriots are 39-1 when they have a 100-yard rusher.
- Stephen Gostkowski has now made 20 straight regular season field goals dating back to Dec. 15, 2013. He's made 30 consecutive field goals in the fourth quarter.
- Brady and Gronkowski have connected on 45 touchdown receptions, tying Drew Bledsoe and Ben Coates for the most QB-TE touchdowns in Pats history.
- Vince Wilfork is in his 11th season under Bill Belichick, which is the longest a defensive player has played under coach. The second-longest is Tedy Bruschi with nine seasons under Belichick.
