Patrick To Stump In Texas This Weekend
BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick is heading to the heart of Texas to help rally Democrats in that decidedly Republican-leaning state.
On Saturday, Patrick travels to Dallas to deliver the keynote address at the Texas Democratic Party's Barbara Jordan Legacy Dinner. He's set to return Sunday.
The trip is the latest in a string of out-of-state trips by Patrick to support fellow Democrats.
Patrick spent Tuesday stumping for Newark Mayor Cory Booker. Booker and Republican Steven Lonegan are vying to replace the late U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg, who died in June.
Patrick is using money from his political action committee to pay for the trip. He formed the Together PAC in 2011 to pay for his travels campaigning for President Barack Obama's re-election.
He's now using it to promote what he calls "grassroots, conviction-based politics."
