Patrick To Meet With Boston Mayor-Elect Walsh

BOSTON (AP) — Gov. Deval Patrick is set to host Boston Mayor-elect Martin Walsh for a meeting at his Beacon Hill office as the state legislator continues with his transition to the chief executive officer of New England's largest city.

Patrick is scheduled to meet privately with Walsh at noon on Monday. They are then expected to talk to reporters about 15 minutes later.

Walsh, a state legislator from the Dorchester neighborhood, defeated City Councilor John Connolly on Nov. 5 in the race to succeed Mayor Thomas Menino, who is retiring after two decades in office.

Walsh was first elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 1997. He has said he'd rely on relationships he forged with Beacon Hill in his new job as mayor of Boston.
