Patrick To Make Good On Stanley Cup Wager
BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick is planning to head to his hometown of Chicago to make good on a bet on the outcome of the Stanley Cup championship.
Patrick and Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn had agreed to a wager on the National Hockey League finals featuring the Chicago Blackhawks and the Boston Bruins.
Under the deal, Patrick agreed to volunteer at the Greater Chicago Food Depository if the Blackhawks won while Quinn agreed to volunteer at the Greater Boston Food Bank if the Bruins were victorious.
The Bruins dropped the series in six games.
Patrick, who grew up in Chicago, will be joined by Quinn at the food depository on Tuesday.
Last month the city re-named a portion of Wabash Ave where Patrick grew up as Honorary Gov. Deval Patrick Ave.
