Passport Hold Up Keeps Dedham Woman And Adopted Daughter In Ukraine
BOSTON (CBS) -- Overseas adoptions can be difficult but it has been made more so for a Dedham family.
Christine Caswell McCarron flew to Ukraine three weeks ago to pick up 11-year-old Kristina, an orphan in Kiev.
While there, the Ukranian government announced they were making new passports and until that is done, Kristina cannot leave with McCarron.

Now, McCarron is reaching out to the Massachusetts congressional delegation for help.
"There was no warning," McCarron said. "I'm here with 11 other American families that I've now bonded with."
McCarron said the blessing in it all is that she is with her newly adopted daughter.
"We understand the U.S. cannot tell Ukraine when to start printing passports," McCarron said. "The congressional delegation is doing all they can to expedite this process on the U.S. end."
McCarron is hopeful passport printing will resume in the next few days.
"Kristina is a joy," McCarron said. "She is wondering when she'll get home. She has her brothers waiting at home and she talks to daddy on Skype. We're trying to make it an adventure."
