Papelbon Reports To Camp Early
BOSTON (CBS) - According to WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Jonny Miller, Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon showed up at the Red Sox minor league complex Thursday down in Fort Myers, Florida.
Sox pitchers and catchers don't have to officially show up until February 13th. Physicals are slated for the 14th while the first day of workouts is scheduled for the 15th.
The 30-year-old comes in off a season where he went 5-7 and 37 saves, 8 blown saves, a 1.27 WHIP, with a 3.90 ERA in 65 games. He walked a career-high 28, but his strikeout-per-9 innings number was 10.2, second best in his career.
Papelbon signed a one year, 12-million dollar deal for 2011. He is slated to be a free agent following this season.
