Palestinian Stowaways Found On Vessel Off Coast Of MA
NEW BEDFORD (CBS/AP) -- Two Palestinian men are in custody after being discovered as stowaways on a vessel called the "Prince of Sounds."
The men were found hiding in a crane with food and water supplies.
The ship had been anchored about three miles off the shore of New Bedford since the men were discovered earlier this week.
The ship was allowed to dock on Sunday after authorities determined the men were not a terrorist threat.
"These two stowaways coming from a place in the world that we have, you know, concerns about was something that heightened everybody's interest," said New Bedford Mayor Scott Lang.
The stowaways are said to be cooperating with investigators.
The Prince of Sound, which was carrying fruit, was most recently in Gibraltar and was at sea for 11 days.
Officials believe the men were headed to Canada.
