Orleans Man Charged With OUI, Motor Vehicle Homicide
ORLEANS (CBS) - Police have charged a 69-year-old Orleans man with motor vehicle homicide after he allegedly struck a woman with his truck.
Police responded to Finlay Road at 5:00 p.m. and found 47-year-old Diane Cole in the roadway with extensive injuries. She was transported to Cape Cod Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Witnesses at the scene said they saw a white GMC pickup truck traveling at a slow rate of speed, when the passenger door opened and the woman fell from the truck. The rear wheel of the truck then struck the victim.
Dennis Maskell was arrested at the scene and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation and later motor vehicle homicide. He was released on bail and will appear in court on Monday.
The investigation is ongoing.
