Oprah: 'Most Rewarding Thing For Me Was Recently In Boston'

BOSTON (CBS) – Oprah Winfrey said one of her most rewarding experiences came in Boston recently.

Winfrey, one of the most famous and influential women in the world, talked to CBS This Morning Thursday about her recent visit to the area to help several young women from South Africa who are part of the first graduating class of the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls.

"In five years, I will tell you, the most rewarding thing I've ever experienced is not the graduation, which I thought at the time was. The most rewarding thing for me was recently, being in Boston, putting my girls' in school and going to Bed, Bath and Beyond (in Framingham)."

Winfrey had tweeted photos of her under-the-radar visit there and a trip to Target, dorm shopping with the students.

CBS This Morning co-host Gayle King, a close friend of Winfrey's, said Oprah called her and said she had no idea what Bed, Bath and Beyond was and that she thought then store was "a little boutique, but it's really a cool store."

"I will tell you that all of the things that I've done with the school, I woke up on the morning we were going shopping it really hit me that, 'Oh my God, we really did this," Winfrey said, referring to the girls starting college.

"We have a number of girls in schools in the United States and everybody in this entire graduation class is in college. That's all exciting."
