Oppressive Humidity Remains...With An End In Sight
The heavy downpours of today have pushed off the coast. Many communities picked up 1-3" of rain in the past 24 hours. As skies began to clear behind the departing temps quickly rose into the 80's where there was sun. Dewpoints are ranging from 70-75. Ugh. An oppressive humid night which will prevent lows from falling off overnight. Areas of low clouds will fill in as well as patchy dense fog. Scattered storms are weakening across NY state , but a stray shower or two may move across SNE during the overnight hours and push off the coast around dawn.
An area of low pressure will cross through the region tonight and move off the coast tomorrow. Meanwhile another piece of energy will slide in from the Great Lakes to allow the atmosphere to start to pop with scattered showers and locally heavy downpours. It does not appear that severe storms will be a threat in the next few days. Monday will start of with a little sunshine which will quickly disappear behind building clouds. There will be sunshine tomorrow, but the best chance of that will be farther inland west of Worcester, with more clouds at the coast. Where there is sunshine temps will climb into the mid80's..warm and humid. Where there are clouds in will be cooler especially at the coast with onshore winds in the 70's. The risk of these scattered showers is for the midday morning into the afternoon, mainly across eastern MA and SNH. Locally heavy rain, but the showers should not be as wide spread as what moved through on Sunday.
Skies will begin to clear on Monday night bringing in slightly less humidity overnight. Tuesday will be a mainly dry day with a mix of sun and clouds with temps in the upper 70's and Lwr 80's. Still humid. A slight risk of shower or thunderstorm inland. It is Wednesday when a vigorous trough will dig in through the northeast with a cold front that more widespread showers and thunderstorms will occur. Cooler temps in the mid 70's.
High pressure will build in from the west on Thursday with increasing sunshine, lowering humidity and seasonal temps near 80. Nice Friday near 80. Sunshine and increasing high clouds Saturday, 84, ahead of our next chance of rain coming in by Sunday back in the 70's.
37 Consecutive Days and counting at 100+ for Dallas. That is some big Texas heat. I am sure the extreme dry conditions is helping to drive the heat and the ground can quickly heat up with lack of moisture.
