One Last Day...
Say good-bye to the 50s! Today is the end of this warm January stretch. Temperatures will be mild today as thermometers rise into the lower and middle 50s. As you're heading out this morning, there will be a few showers as well as patchy dense fog. A Dense Fog Advisory will be in effect until 9am since there will be spots where the visibilty drops to a 1/4 mile or less. Then, we will see more and more sunshine as the morning transitions into the afternoon as the cold front pushes south and east of New England. Tonight will be partly to mostly cloudy with lows in the middle 20s in the 'burbs to lower 30s in the city.
The cold front that moves through today will stall just to our south. It will remain the focal point for waves of low pressure, especially south of the Pike, through midweek. Tuesday will be cooler as highs head back down to the lower 40s. There will be more clouds to the south where there will be a very slight chance of a snowflake/raindrop during the day. Overall, it will be a dry day with the brighter skies located north of the Mass Pike.
Wednesday is setting up to be a tricky forecast. Depending on the position of the stalled front, there may be rain and snow showers around from the morning into the early afternoon hours. There could even be a few bursts of snow north fo the Pike through midday before it all wraps up and heads east. This may turn out to be one of those 6 hour 'nowcasting' events. It also has the potential to drop a few inches of snow from the Worcester Hills to north-central Mass. to the Merrimack Valley to southern NH. It should be mainly a rain event for neighborhoods across southern Plymouth/Bristol counties as well as the Cape and the Islands.
Thursday will be the result of a 'dry' cold front which will provide a colder end the week. Highs temps will be around 40F.
Friday will be sunny, yet the coldest day this week as high temps range from the upper 20s to lower 30s.
This weekend will stay colder as highs hover in the 30s. Saturday will be mostly cloudy with a chance of snow showers. Then, on Sunday, there will be chance of morning showers with brighter skies returning in the afternoon. So, the Pats game this weekend will be quite a bit colder than the last!
Welcome back to work and school!
