One Day 'Til...

We have one more day of overcast skies before peeks of sunshine return to the forecast.

Check: Current Conditions | Weather Map Center | Interactive Radar

Today will be damp and cool as we are still under the strong influence of an upper level low offshore. The optimum time for showers to develop will be during the warmest hours of the day (afternoon).  Onshore winds from the north-northeast will prevent our temps from reaching near-normal territory and will also be the culprit for the lack of sunshine. Highs will reach 55-60.

Tonight's high tide will be astronomically high at 12.2 feet occurring about 12:47 a.m.  Hence, the National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory from 11 p.m. through 3 a.m. Wednesday.  Minor coastal flooding and beach erosion will be possible around this time.

Wednesday and Thursday show more promise for some sunshine, but there will still be a few diurnally-driven showers.  High temps will go from the middle 60s on Wedensday to near 70 on Thursday.

Friday will be seasonably warm in the middle 70s along with a large dose of sunshine! There will only be about a 1 in 5 chance of a spot afternoon shower/storm, especially north and west of Boston.

This weekend will be the return of summerlike warmth. I know that many of us have been missing the warmth and sunshine!

Highs will be around 80, give or take a few degrees on both days, as well as cooler high temps for coastal communities. There will be a frontal boundary moving through Saturday night, which is the reason that I have included a chance of a storm along with residual cloud cover/shower early on Sunday morning.

Sunday will mainly be a sunshiny day, but some of the models are showing the cold front getting hung up across southeastern Massachusetts. If that occurs, that geographic location would have a slim chance of a spot shower or storm later in the day. We will continue to fine-tune this forecast.

As the clouds begin to clear out later this week, here's a detailed look at our night sky this week.
