On to the Weekend...

One of the biggest weekends of the year is one day away and while it's not going to be a perfect holiday weekend, all in all it looks pretty good!

Let's start with tomorrow...an upper level disturbance lies just south of Long Island this evening and it's producing ongoing scattered showers and thunderstorms in the abundantly muggy air im place up and down the Eastern Seaboard.  Models show this feature migrating north and passing over Southern New England tomorrow morning.  This means that some showers along with an expanding area of low clouds will be present all morning.  The feature moves north of us for the afternoon so the shower threat should be diminishing as the afternoon and evening move on.  With that said, in the wake of these types of features, sinking air usually promotes clearing and with a surface wind turning into the S/SW some sunshine will be had and that may be enough to touch off another pop-up shower or rumble in the afternoon as well...just isolated though.  This feature will act as a warmfront and the air will be heating up for Saturday.  With a surface coldfront on the move into the area winds will mostly be offshore and surface temps will soar to 85-90.  With a front in the area normally I'd be concerned with T-storms but the warming air aloft should provide enough of a cap to limit them so mostly sunny and just slight chance...great beach day!

That same front will bow back north on Sunday and weak impulses will ride along it triggering mostly showers but some thunder too.  It looks like the threat goes up as the day goes on.  We will also be on the cooler side of the front keeping temps in the 70s and probably closer to 70 at the coast.

The front will continue it snail's pace trek farther south of New England on Memorial Day so improvements are currently expected with temps near 70 at the coast and 80 inland along with increasing sunshine.  This front has been tough to pin down so the forecast may change a bit but right now two out of three days look good!
