Off-Duty Police Officers Ordered To Start Paying Tolls At Logan Airport
BOSTON (CBS) - In the wake of an I-Team investigation, off-duty police officers are now paying tolls at Logan Airport.
Two weeks ago, the I-Team showed how off-duty law enforcement officers in their personal cars were using a restricted road to escape paying the $3.50 toll at the Ted Williams Tunnel.
Sources say that skipping the toll is a widespread, well-known practice in law enforcement circles. WBZ asked one officer why he did it and his response was, "everyone does."
The I-Team has learned that all state troopers have been instructed by their commanding officers to start paying the toll and only use the restricted roadway, which bypasses the toll, when on duty.
