Obama Planning Stop At Boston School, Fundraiser

BOSTON (AP) - President Barack Obama is planning to push his education agenda with a stop by a Boston school before bulking up his campaign coffers at a Museum of Fine Arts fundraiser.

On Tuesday, Obama will speak with students and faculty at TechBoston Academy. The school in the city's Dorchester neighborhood was started in 2002 with a grant from a foundation headed by Microsoft founder Bill Gates and his wife, Melinda, who will accompany the president.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Kim Tunnicliffe spoke with the head of the Mass. Democratic Party, John Walsh.

The school has an 85 percent graduation rate.

The White House says the visit builds on Obama's call for investment in innovative education approaches.

Later on Tuesday, Obama will attend a Democratic fundraiser at Boston's Museum of Fine Arts.

According to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the price of the dinner starts at $5,000 per person.
