President Barack Obama Headed To Boston For Labor Day Event
BOSTON (CBS/AP) -- The president is headed to Boston next week.
President Barack Obama will be in the city Monday to address the Greater Boston Labor Council's Labor Day Breakfast at the Park Plaza Hotel.
Rich Rogers, executive secretary-treasurer of the Greater Boston Labor Council, said the group is honored Obama will join its members "to celebrate a labor movement that is needed now more than ever."
Rogers said Massachusetts workers have several legislative victories to celebrate this year, including earned sick time, a minimum wage increase and a domestic workers bill of rights.
The council is the regional arm of the AFL-CIO and includes 161 local unions representing about 90,000 members in 24 communities in the Boston area.
More details about Obama's trip will be released in the next few days.
The First Family recently wrapped up their annual vacation in Martha's Vineyard, where the president spent some time golfing with former President Bill Clinton.
