Nurse From Medical Tent At Marathon Bombing, Saves A Life On Plum Isalnd
Dixie Patterson was enjoying a day on Plum Island with her Godsons when someone began yelling for help.
Patterson sprang into action and saved the life of a 14-year-old who was in the water.
The girl had a seizure and though she had a pulse, she wasn't breathing.
Dixie used CPR and now the girl is expected to make a full recovery.
Dixie knows all about life-saving efforts. She was in the medical tent during the Boston Marathon bombing.
"It was weird in that I was the only person there on the beach. When I was on Boylston, I was surrounded by a hundred Boston EMS, Boston Fire, physicians, nurses and I felt like there was a lot of camaraderie there we all worked well together," she said. "I know we saved some lives down on Boylston, luckily a life was saved yesterday as well so it's a good feeling."
