Nurse From Danvers Critically Injured By Hit & Run Driver In South Carolina
COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA (CBS) - A 24-year-old nurse from Danvers remains in critical condition in a South Carolina hospital a week after a hit and run crash, and now her family is offering a $5,000 reward in the case.
Lindsay Bires, a Cardiac nurse at Palmetto Health Heart Hospital in Columbia, S.C., was hit by a car while standing on the sidewalk outside the hospital around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Witnesses said the car ran off the side of the road at least twice before striking Bires.
Police are asking local businesses to check surveillance tapes for any footage of the incident.
Bires' sister has set up a Facebook page named "Prayers For Lindsay," asking people to do just that.
The page also gives updates on Bires' condition.
